What gives?

I need to get this out before I go to sleep and forget all about it: what the heck happened to Desmond's vision? The reason Charlie died was so, as per the premonition, Claire and Aaron would get on a helicopter together.

How would that conceivably happen now? The chances of Claire being dead hover somewhere around 99.2%, and last we knew, she seemed very content to leave Aaron in more alive hands and hang out with her dead dad - and now Aaron's already on the freighter. So there's no "Claire gets on the helicopter with Aaron, but then it goes to the freighter and she then goes back to the island" scenario. The three possible scenarios:

In a brilliant twist, the ghost of Claire comes out of nowhere and hops on the same copter that Aaron and the rest of the Six get on at some point in the near future.
Claire's not dead, and Desmond's premonition will come true - just at some point way in the future under totally different circumstances.
The writers - whoops! - forgot.

This peeve anybody else? Or am I just not being creative enough?
