Vote on the 2 Best-Ever Lost Episodes

The Paley Center for Media -- formerly the Museum of Television and Radio -- is hosting a "Lost Saturday" in early January in their New York branch where they'll screen the two best episodes of the entire series...as decided by all of us schmucks online.

Head over to their website to vote. They have thirty episodes listed (along with a write-in option), and you get to pick two.

I assumed "The Constant" and the pilot would be winning, but upon looking at the results it's actually "The Constant" and "Through the Looking Glass" -- the Season 3 finale. The pilot is in a somewhat distant third, followed in fourth by "Walkabout" -- the memorable first season episode that served as an introduction to Locke.

Since "The Constant" is a shoo-in, I decided to give my vote to two less-heralded episodes: Season 1's "Confidence Man" and "Exodus Part 2".

"Confidence Man," Sawyer's first episode, I think is the perfect example of why Lost has become a phenomenon and not another failed sci-fi show: because of its dedication to character. Absolutely nothing "supernatural" happens in this episode -- just a lot of cool characters finally coming to blows with each other.

"Exodus Part 2," the Season 1 finale, gets a lot of grief -- or at least did at the time -- for not answering enough questions. But that aside, it's a brilliant piece of television. The montage of each survivor getting on the plane, oblivious to the future that awaits them, juxtaposed with present-day scenes of them blowing up the hatch or huddling scared in the caves, is terrific.
