Theory of the Day: Last Scene of Season 4

Lindelof and Cuse have promised that the end of Season 4 will be another game-changing, "where do we go from here?" kind of shocker. So what's it going to be?

My favorite theory so far is one Jeff Jensen of Entertainment Weekly thought up a couple of weeks ago while ruminating on the time travel possibilities of the island:

Here's my prediction for the season finale: In the last scene, exactly one minute after the Oceanic 6 departs from the Island, the flash-forward Oceanic 6, released from the restrictions of Island magic, will step out of the jungle and greet the remaining castaways. I'll leave it to Hurley to make the inevitable quip: "Man, I thought they would never leave."

So basically, when the Oceanic 6 returns, they enter a time warp and actually end up returning before they leave. This could explain the Ominous Whispers or, more sensibly, the appearance of Taller Ghost Walt.

Not that I think it would happen exactly like that. Maybe they'll leave, and we'll think it's over, but the scene will fade into a damp building with a couple of the Oceanic Six in it. We'll think it's a flash-forward, but they'll leave and it'll turn out to be a hatch - the elusive Orchid station, quite possibly - and have an uber-cryptic conversation with each other while looking out on the horizon, watching their past selves sail away in the freighter.

Yeah, it's undercooked so far. Anybody want to help flesh it out?
