Only six hours to go until "The Little Prince." We're already four episodes in!
-I'll throw my hat in the ring and agree that Ellie the Other is Eloise Hawking the White-Haired Time Travel Expert and thus Daniel Faraday's mother. I'm a little disappointed that that's one of the things I didn't notice while watching the episode, but at the same time, Mrs. Hawking's first name hasn't even been revealed on the show yet.
-Who's the client behind the lawyers asking Kate for a blood sample? It depends on what the client is really after: if the client simply wants Aaron, then it could be Charles Widmore -- because taking Aaron would prevent all of the Oceanic Six from returning to the island, which is what Ben & Mrs. Hawking are trying to orchestrate and thus not what Widmore wants. If the client wants to expose the Oceanic Six as liars...well, since Widmore was supposedly the guy who planted the Oceanic 815 fake ship, he doesn't want the truth getting out either, so it can't be him. The "surprise" option would be Sun -- who mysteriously called Kate out of the blue when Kate was on the run, and who is allying herself with Widmore. Jeff Jensen over at EW presents perhaps a boring but perhaps realistic option: it could be...duh...Aaron's dad.
-Does anyone really like Kate anymore? Just wondering.
-Jensen also goes in-depth about the book "The Little Prince" takes its name from:
After a series of stops on other meteorites, the Little Prince is marooned on Earth. He is full of regret. He now realizes he should never have left his meteorite and his complicated little flower. At one point, the Little Prince learns from a wise fox that ''you become responsible for what you've tamed.'' The fox explains that these tamed ''things'' are your friends — the people who've come to trust you, love you, and depend on you because of the amount of time you've invested in their lives. In the final chapters, you get the sense that the immense distance from the place where he truly belongs is literally killing the Little Prince. As the troubled hero's wisdom and maturity grow and his existential/physical crisis intensifies, I get a strong whiff of Jack — especially when you reach the part where the Little Prince makes a risky pact with a deadly, duplicitous snake (read: Ben) that will resolve, once and for all, his homesick alien blues. Might this conclusion foreshadow — thematically or literally — Jack's (or someone's) ''Return to the Island'' story line?
That's interesting, because said pact with the snake goes like this: if the snake bites the Little Prince, he'll be transported back to his meteor, but his body is "too heavy" to stay behind -- meaning, the snake will kill the Prince, and the meteor represents the Prince's heaven. No, this isn't a prelude to a "they're all dead" theory -- just an observation that the island once again represents a final destination paradise.
But more simplistically, like I said before, the title probably just refers to Aaron.
