The Libby/Annie Dust-Up

There's a video floating around the internet that Approaching Lost latched onto featuring an interview with Cynthia Watros in which she accidentally refers to her Lost character as "Annie," not Libby. Not Confused Just Lost picked up the story and immediately started theorizing on the potential of Libby and Annie - Ben's childhood love interest, remember - being the same person.

First, watch the video for yourself. The Watros interview runs from 1:11 to 3:34:

I hate to be the voice of reason, but even if Libby was Annie, it's highly doubtful that Cynthia Watros would know anything about it. Cast members constantly remind us in interviews that the writers of the show tell them nothing about their characters' backstories or what's going to happen.

Libby's also a little young for Ben, but I suppose not so young that the writers couldn't fudge their ages. But then there's the problem of Michael shooting Libby right before releasing Ben - Ben might have noticed he was stepping over the corpse of his first love on his way out of the Swan.

Still, if you want to believe there's something afoot, have fun. Annie and Libby are both two major loose ends on Lost right now, right up there with the four-toed statue.

People also fail to take into consideration that Cynthia Watros once did a 24-episode arc on Guiding Light playing a character named... you guessed it! Annie.

I'm certain given the level of secrecy surrounding plot twists, Cynthia's slip of the tongue was a brain blip (reverting back to her GL days) and nothing more.
