The Identity of the Four-Toed Statue

Over at Entertainment Weekly, Doc Jensen -- or more likely, an intern who was charged with searching the Web for Lost info for him -- stumbled across the true identity of the Four-Toed Statue. Seriously: in ABC's online recap of "The Incident," they just come out and say it.

Apparently the reveal at the end of the very first scene was supposed to tip us off. I guess I just forgot to search Wikipedia for "Egyptian Statue with a Crocodile Head and Four Toes."

Ready for it?

The camera pulls back over the ocean, and we see they were sitting on the base of a giant stone foot. And next to the foot is another foot -- and both feet have four toes. And as the camera pulls back, we see what we've been waiting to see since we first glimpsed that four-toed foot over three years ago... the towering, majestic statue of the Egyptian goddess Taweret. And we clearly know we're a long time ago, so let's get the finale of season five started...

So the Four-Toed Statue is officially Egyptian, officially a real Egyptian goddess, and officially Taweret.

Head over to Wikipedia and go crazy.
