So It Looks Like I'm Wrong

Alex-Tania-Raymonde-in-peril.jpgI know what the writers would say: this isn't even supposed to be a big deal. We weren't supposed to wonder for a month who it was that shot Karl and Danielle. But the writers strike happened, and that was the cliffhanger we were left with.

I've maintained that it makes much more sense for it to be the Others who shot them; you can see my entire rationale here. Sure, it could be people from the freighter, but, what, Frank takes a few of them in the chopper, they land somewhere on the island, and then just happen to run into Alex, Karl, and Danielle? And, uh, open fire? It's cooler if Ben sent them to the sanctuary because he knew the Others would off Karl and Danielle.

Anyway, in one of the promos for the new episode, we're shown freighter dude Keamy (played by 3:10 to Yuma's Kevin Durand; he's one of the first guys we met when Sayid and Desmond arrived at the freighter) standing in Locke's camp, holding a gun to Alex's head. It's not hard to connect the dots: if he's on the island, and Alex is in his captivity, this is a major blow to my whole "it was the Others" theory.

So I was probably wrong. I remain defiant, though; it makes a lot more sense if it was the Others, and now it just feels clumsy.
