Sayid & "The Economist"

Because Lost moved from Wednesdays to Thursdays, last night's episode was the second annual Valentine's episode. Last year was the Desmond/Penelope heart-breaker. Last night was all about Sayid and Elsa (with far more sinister undertones than Desmond's tale).

Quick thoughts:

The bracelets. Naomi's says, "N, I'll always be with you, R.G." Who is R.G.? Or is the G a C? Wonder what Elsa's says. And why does the inscription read as creepy to me instead of romantic? Kind of like Sting singing "Every Breath You Take." Stalkerish.

We now know that Sayid is one of the Oceanic Six. And that the settlement ensures financial security. But the man on the golf course freaked out when he found out that Sayid was a survivor. Why? (This was before Sayid pulled out the gun).

Naomi was looking for Desmond, the Freighter Four are looking for Ben. So they say. Are Desmond and Ben linked somehow?

Hurley betrays his old friends. We're starting to see glimpses of behavior that could be regretted on the mainland in the future.

Kate chooses Sawyer? Yes, folks, my prediction was right. Sawyer plays the "we're criminals and have no futures if we leave the island" card. So playing house with a rugged con man on a tropical island trumps the helicopter-rescue option. For now.

Ben in the future = creepy. Even creepier than on the island. And here's the new question: How many non-Oceanic Six make it off the island? I'm pretty sure Kate would have to be one of the Six, as she was on the plane. But Ben wasn't. Nor was Juliet, Desmond, our freighter friends, Danielle (daughter and boyfriend included), et c.
