Alexandra Rousseau died in the early evening of December 27th, 2004, from a gunshot wound to the head. She was believed to be either sixteen or seventeen.
Alex led a troubled life. Born to her mother Danielle, who was stranded on a mysterious island in the Pacific Ocean when she gave birth, Alex was kidnapped in infancy by a mysterious group of island inhabitants. The leader of the group, Benjamin Linus, raised her as a daughter, never telling her the truth about her parentage. In her teenage years, Alex grew to doubt his story and rebelled against Ben and the entire group, finding companionship among another teenage outcast named Karl.
The moral elasticity of Ben's group never extended to Alex. While she was often troubled and alone, she rarely lost her sense of right and wrong, going so far as to secretly rescue the kidnapped Claire Littleton, a survivor of the Oceanic 815 flight that crashed on the same island, from a rushed and unsafe C-section that would've resulted in the kidnapping of her newborn son, Aaron. Her streak of heroism continued when she helped James Ford and Kate Austen, two other survivors in the custody of Ben's group, escape a small island off the shore of the base island. Finally, she was integral in warning the entire group of crash survivors of a plan by Ben to infiltrate their camp at night; the deed resulted in the tide eventually turning against Ben's group, the remnants of whom would be forced to regroup in their secret island sanctuary.
Just six days before her death, on December 21st, Alex reunited with her mother Danielle for the first time since being kidnapped as a baby. Sadly, both Danielle and Karl would be presumably fatally shot the morning of Alex's death by a group of men working for billionaire Charles Widmore; it was one of those men, a mercenary known as Keamy, who later shot Alex.
Alex was a quick-witted, goodhearted, beautiful girl, and we can now only imagine the woman that she would have become. She will be missed.

Agreed. In a hopefully most satisfying fashion.
I totally agree with this. I really loved the character of Alex, and that of Karl and her mother Danielle too. They were very interesting. I hope at least one of them turns out to be alive, in typical Lost fashion, because they were my favourites. Their deaths were sad, and at least by me, all three will be sorely missed.
