Rediscovering Lost

As you probably remember, Lost won an Emmy for Best Drama in its first year. And then it disappeared off the Emmy radar. Until now. And such renewed attention is generating a buzz that will hopefully bring back the original viewers who walked away during Lost's second season (I know, I hated Ana Lucia too. Her death may have influenced a happy dance) and rope in a few new ones in the process.

When producers submitted an episode for consideration, they took the smartest risk possible: the submitted "The Constant." I think everyone here at dailyLOST would agree that "The Constant" is as close as you can get to a perfect hour of television. But for judges to watch the episode out of context (and possibly knowing very little about the show's arc over the years), it could have been confusing. Instead, they were blown away. Or at least that's what I'm telling myself.

“It showed the marriage of what we feel the show is: Something weird was going on, but at the end of the day, the weird thing was secondary to the emotional,” Lindelof said. “For some reason, this episode transcends its own weirdness and is one of the greatest romantic stories we’ve ever done.”

The whole season arguably was a gamble.

“We decided to try the flash-forward thing even though we were not sure it was going to work,” Cuse said. “So it’s enormously gratifying to see how people have responded and that the show is nominated again.”

And if you haven't seen "The Constant," WATCH IT.
The end.
