Piecing together the Oceanic 6 so far

At this point, we don't know a lot about the Oceanic 6 -- that is, the 6 people from Oceanic flight 815 who were presumed dead but made it back to civilization. I'm going to try and piece together what we know so far...

We know 4 of the 6: Jack, Kate, Hurley, and Sayid.

We know Hurley wants to go back to the island.

We know Jack didn't want to go back to the island but later he is begging to go back.

We know Kate doesn't want to go back to the island.

We don't know if Sayid wants to go back or not, but he doesn't seem happy with his life post-island.

Jack needed to meet Kate secretly.

They have lied to the public and are keeping secrets.

They have been rewarded and treated like heroes.

Technically, only Sayid and Hurley have said they are part of the Oceanic 6. I don't recall Jack or Kate specifically saying it though it's implied.

Getting to the Oceanic 6 is still a mystery. My guess right now is that all the islanders are going to unite to fight against the outsiders (Freightors lead by Abaddon and above). There is certainly a fight coming that pits the island people vs the outsiders and I think a deal will probably be made to allow the 6 to get off while stranding the rest on the island in a not-so-pleasant context.

But the battle isn't finished. Ben gets off the island and recruits (blackmails) Sayid to continue the fight by taking out more of the outsiders. So far he's taken out 2 of them.

So how is all this going to play out in the next few weeks? I wish I knew. But I know this story is really getting interesting. We still haven't connected Penny, Desmond, Alpert, and the rest!

I remember back when Ben had Hurley, Sawyer, Jack, and Kate captured Hurley asked him, "who are you people?" and Ben replied, "We're the good guys". I've always wondered if that could actually be true. The way things are kinda sorta moving right now, it could very well be true!

I know one thing for sure: Ben loves his lists!

Actually, we don't know that Kate is one of the Oceanic 6 - we only know that she gets off the island.

She was on her way to prison when the plane crashed and the world would not have so easily forgotten the crime she committed.

She could have been taken off the island in secrecy to protect her, (or something of the like) and thus, would not have became one of the '6'.

Through you could argue that she was provided with a crack legal team, or even pardoned from her crime, in which case she would be one of the '6'... I guess we'll have to wait and see.

You are right about that. We really don't know, at this point, if Kate really is one of the 6. Technically we are assuming it. She did meet Jack privately! The only people to say they are part of the 6 are Jack, Hurley, and Sayid. But I think this week's eppi will tell us more about the 6.
