Lost's ratings for last week's "Namaste" hit 9.4 million viewers against American Idol, which scored 23.7 million viewers.

That's low for Lost but expected; it held rather steady with the 9.7 million viewers it had the last time it was up against Idol.

It's actually low for both shows. Idol's ratings are on a long decline, but the decline is slow enough to keep its status as the #1 show on TV. Still, it's now only a few notches above fellow heavyweights Dancing with the Stars and CSI.

Cuse & Lindelof have postulated that Lost's ratings will swing upwards again in Season 6, given that it's the long-announced final season, but expect it to stay in the 9 million - 11 million range for this season.

Meanwhile, what do you think about ABC reneging on their promise to run Lost uninterrupted this season? Sure, they strategically took the break on a week many students and teachers had spring break, but if viewing patterns of the last few years are any indication, it's a massive gamble to force people out of their weekly viewing habit.
