Next year's time slot?

After ABC's announcement of their 2008-2009 line-up, E!'s Kristen talked to the head of the studio, Steve McPherson, and of course Lost was mentioned:

Lost Time Slot for Midseason? TBD, according to McPherson. "At this point, we still like this 10 p.m. on Thursday, and we could move Life on Mars at that point. But it's also been a great 9 p.m. performer and 8 p.m. performer, so I think quite honestly we have to see how the fall plays out."

Wait - he likes the 10 p.m. slot? No, McPherson, no. That's just wrong. Lost's ratings dipped when you moved it to 10 p.m. last year, and they dipped again when you moved it to 10 p.m. this year. Stick it back at 9 p.m. once one of your 9 p.m. shows fails - it's as simple as that.

By the way, that Life on Mars show he mentioned is ABC's sole new drama next season; it's a remake of a recent BBC show about a modern-day cop who finds himself transported back to the '70s. I actually happened to catch an episode when I was visiting London a couple of years ago, and it was quite good, so let's hope the American version does it justice.
