Nestor Carbonell a Season 5 regular?

Richard_Alpert.jpgWhen last we left the island, dependable second-in-command Richard Alpert was the interim leader of the Others and about to cede the position to Locke. Given his stature in the group, it's logical to assume we'll be seeing a lot of him next season, so I'm not surprised by the rumor posted on I Am Legend that the actor who plays Richard, Nestor Carbonell, will get a full season contract.

We didn't see much of Carbonell in Season 4 because he was busy co-starring with Jimmy Smits in the now-canceled Cane. Officially joining the cast with a full-season contract for Season 5 will insure that he won't make any conspicuous disappearances.

The rumor hasn't been verified exactly, but Carbonell did tell Latino Review he's definitely filming more Lost starting in August, which is when all filming on Season 5 begins. So he'll at the very least be there in the beginning.

He mentions he's also doing some voice work in a new Batman cartoon series, which seems appropriate since he plays the mayor of Gotham City in this summer's The Dark Knight.
