More Monaghan News: Hosting Political Comedy

I swear I'm not obsessed with Dominic. He just happens to have had a pretty busy news week. In my little entertainment-news world, anyway.

Argentina's "CQC," a political comedy show, is coming to the U.S. And Dominic Monaghan, in his first significant career move post-"Not Penny's boat," has signed on as one of three studio hosts.

The one-hour pilot -- co-produced by Eyeworks 3Ball -- features segments with presidential hopefuls Barack Obama and John McCain, an interview with Danny Bonaduce and a red carpet stop at the MTV Movie Awards.

"CQC" -- Spanish for "Caiga Quien Caiga," meaning "whoever might fall" -- has been a staple of Argentine television for 13 years. It takes an in-your-face and ironic look at current events, driven by the three wise-cracking studio hosts and a team of aggressive street reporters. The show is known for its slick aesthetics, fast edits and the black suits and sunglasses worn by the cast.

"It's such a polished show. It has a Matrix-style quality, and it's very hip. But once you get into it, you realize that we deal with some serious issues," Monaghan told The Hollywood Reporter during filming in Buenos Aires.

Production on the pilot wraps shortly. Here's hoping that shopping the pilot to American networks in July will equal Monaghan back on our TV radar. Because I miss him.
