Lost scores 8 Emmy nominations

Lost climbed back on top of the Emmy pile this year with a total of eight nominations, including for Best Drama. Oddly enough, though, it didn't clinch any writing or directing nominations. (Not even for The Constant or The Shape of Things to Come?? Please.) The list:

-Best Drama Series
-Best Supporting Actor in a Drama - Michael Emerson
-Best Editing
-Best Cinematography
-Best Sound Mixing
-Best Sound Editing
-Best Musical Composition
-Best Short-format Live-action Program (for "Lost: Missing Pieces" webisodes)

Not terribly exciting -- I think we all assumed Michael Emerson would clinch a spot -- but the eight nods add up to a satisfying vindication for the show overall.

Here's the competition for each major category:

DRAMA SERIES
Boston Legal
Damages
Dexter
House
Lost
Mad Men

SUPPORTING ACTOR IN A DRAMA SERIES
Ted Danson, Damages
Michael Emerson, Lost
Zeljko Ivanek, Damages
William Shatner, Boston Legal
John Slattery, Mad Men
