Lost on Random Top 10 Lists

It's December, and that means just about everybody in the entire world is constructing "Top 10 of 2008" lists on every topic imaginable. A brief search of "10 Best TV Shows of 2008" turned up three top ten lists, and guess what? Lost was on every single one of them.

Over at Time -- which I previously reported declared "The Constant" the best hour of TV in 2008 -- Lost as a whole comes in at #6. The list:

1. The Shield
2. Mad Men
3. The Presidential Election
4. Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog
5. The Wire
6. Breaking Bad
7. Lost
8. Battlestar Galactica
9. Architecture School
10. Chuck

And on Lost, they say:

Season 4 of Lost audaciously told us up front where it was going to end: with the Oceanic 6 getting off the mysterious Island and returning to civilization (as revealed at the end of season 3). What we didn't know was how and when — when being the big question, on a series that complicated its time-and-space-travel story deliciously. (How does a Frozen Donkey Wheel work, anyway?) Having spent the first half of the series flashing back to the characters' pre-island lives, season 4 started flashing forward, revealing tantalizing glimpses of the post-Island future that we're still trying to piece together. At season's end, Jack learned that the Oceanic 6's escape had disastrous consequences, and he vowed to return. We can't wait to get back either.

The next list I found was from Sea Coast Online:

1. Mad Men
2. House
3. The Office
4. Lost
5. Saturday Night Live
6. Dexter
7. The Bachelorette
8. Project Runway
9. American Idol
10. 30 Rock

On Lost:

I almost lost touch with this show completely. Seems like it hasn't been on in a year, but it's coming back — and it's getting good again. Thank Desmond!

One more, from Paste Magazine:

1. Battlestar Galactica
2. Mad Men
3. The Colbert Report
4. The Office
5. 30 Rock
6. The Daily Show
7. Pushing Daisies
8. Doctor Who
9. Project Runway
10. Lost

On Lost:

For a series known for posing more questions than answers, season four was especially gratifying. Lost introduced the freighter enemies, revealed the identities of the Oceanic Six and reached a creative pinnacle with Locke’s ‘moving’ of the island and the heart-wrenching Desmond/Penny-centered episode “The Constant.”

I love that Time's list included Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. And the election coverage, for that matter. Watching Sarah Palin's interviews almost had me crying as much as when I watched "The Constant." Zing!
