Lost: Mysteries 'R' Us

Entertainment Weekly has posted a photo gallery called "Lost: 17 Enduring Mysteries." Let's check them out, shall we?

  1. What is the monster?
  2. What are the numbers?
  3. What is the four-toed statue?
  4. Will Jack ever learn that Claire is his half-sister?
  5. What's the real connection between Ben and Widmore?
  6. Is Jin dead, or is he still on the island?
  7. Who's in the coffin?
  8. What happens to everyone who's not among the Oceanic 6?
  9. Polar bears? WTH?
  10. Does the island really have healing powers?
  11. Why do pregnant women on the island die before their third trimester?
  12. Who's the mystery man pestering Hurley in the future, and Locke in the past?
  13. What's up with the apparently ageless Mr. Alpert?
  14. Why do Jack and Ben see their dead parents?
  15. What's the significance of Aaron, Claire's baby?
  16. What's the deal with all the whispering noises people hear in the jungle?
  17. Will J.J. Abrams and Co. manage to write a satisfactory ending to the mythology?

And because you're dying to peak inside my befuddled brain, here are my short answers to the above questions:

  1. I don't know. I like Doc Jensen's wife's theory, though.
  2. Something to do with the Valenzetti Equation, perhaps? ("...predicts the exact number of years and months until humanity extinguishes itself.")
  3. No clue. Reminds me of a Muppet's foot. I doubt there's a Gonzo connection, though.
  4. Check. One question answered. Moving on....
  5. There's MAJOR history between the two. And they're playing by a mysterious set of rules. But how they're connected? Still no clue. Other than unnatural ties to a movable island.
  6. He's not dead. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
  7. Juliet. Because I don't trust her. And because Jack's the only one who does. (Okay, so it was a random guess. But I believe in guessing with confidence.)
  8. They either die or remain on the island. Next question.
  9. Why not polar bears? Dharma's version of giant lab rats.
  10. If you're injured/sick before arriving, yep. Injured on the island, sort of. Mortally wounded, no. I think the island has healing powers, but is a little temperamental and selective in choosing when to use them. Probably testing character at the same time.
  11. This is a strange one. The risk is for women who conceive on the island. And yet Claire's situation seemed to indicate she wasn't immune to the same threat. This same island seems to increase male sperm count. Seems counterproductive to me.
  12. We're talking Abaddon here. He subscribes to the same Fountain of Youth as Richard Alpert, whether they're cohorts and competitors.
  13. Botox. Or he knows how to work the whole time-tripping thing to his advantage. Or he's immortal.
  14. What is dead? And doesn't Locke also see his father on the island? If I were a betting woman, I'd bet that Anthony Cooper was also non-living at the time of his island reveal. (He DID arrive mysteriously after an on-the-mainland car crash....)
  15. Aaron is super-key to everything. Which is why we know much about his importance until the end. That's my non-theory.
  16. Ever see the movie The Others? There are freaky whispering voices (spoiler alert) that end up being the voices of the living. So maybe there are two layers of life on the island: those who are alive and those who only think they are.
  17. They must. Or I quit.

Now I'm turning the mysteries over to you. What do you think?
