"Jughead" Postmortem

Michael and I share most of the same "Jughead" thoughts, so I won't burden you with redundancy.

For a rather exceptional in-depth recap, read this. It will make you want to watch it again.

And Doc Jensen also chimes in with his usual brilliance, throwing out some fun/crazy/thoughtful theories about this season's island adventures thus far. Arrows, geeks and U2. Oh, and he points out the completely non-coincidental similarities between Dan Faraday and Jack Shepherd. Why am I not that smart?

My thoughts:

-It just keeps getting more complicated. And my brain keeps exploding. Or melting. Or extreme non-literal emphatic description of your choice.

-One of the major perks of a day job are the Lost postmortems every Thursday morning with coworkers. Today, the chatter was all about the Hawking/Faraday connection. And the new-girl-Ellie-might-be-Hawking thing. "You look like someone I used to know." Yes, Dan, probably YOUR MOM. Remember that it was Mrs. Hawking who told Des not to marry Penny. Because he can't change history. And he did anyway. Which leads me to...

-I'm terrified for the Penny/Desmond relationship. Fortunately, right now, they're the show's emotional center, so I don't think they're going to be disappearing anytime soon. (Unlike Charlotte, who, I'm guessing, is pretty much gone. I mean, Rebecca Mader was cast in a Clooney movie. She's outta there.) But Faraday's momma knows something they don't. Can't wait until she and Des reunite in LA. Except that Ben's there. So I take it back. Don't go, Mr. Hume. Please.

-Dan's love for Charlotte. What was that? Was that sincere? A line? Isn't his heart still elsewhere? I have a feeling there's much more to learn about Theresa Spencer, who, according to Doc Jensen, contracted a time-travel STD from Faraday. Yes. (Was it just me, or did she look a little like Libby in the photo? I was so hoping....)

-Oh, and the Widmore-as-young-man reveal had me typing this reaction on my laptop:
AHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! Young Charles Widmore. No freaking way.

-Now that Locke has challenged Richard to visit him in the future as a baby, things are getting, A, more complicated, and, B, more circular. I think I'm going to need to watch the entire series again to fill in more details. Because there's no way I'm retaining enough.

Randomness:

-Has Locke gained weight? There may be continuity problems if O'Quinn's not careful.
-I love Desmond's scarf. So much. Only European men can dress like that.
-Juliet is winning me over. Slowly but surely.
-Baby Charlie is now my favorite Lost baby. Aaron, move over.

What about you? Would you rank "Jughead" as one of the more exceptional episodes we've seen? The critics are.
