After my experience with the expensive Lost: Via Domus possibly ended prematurely, I decided to go online and search for lower-budget alternatives to having fun with Lost beyond just sitting there watching the episodes. Not surprisingly, I found a lot of ideas.
A Lost Party. The most obvious idea is to throw a Lost party, and the best guide to this is at Neatorama. The article is complete with pictures of cupcakes with toy planes sticking out of them.
A Lost Party, Only Where You Get Hammered. There were plenty of Lost drinking games, but the best one in my opinion can be found at Movie Toasts - it's up-to-date and big and has some pretty hilarious rules like "Drink whenever the camera shows Sayid's awkwardly long fingernails" and "Drink whenever someone hits Ben." (This one's only for the age-appropriate, of course.)
The Board Game. Yup, there is the Lost board game, which you can check out at its official site. Yeah, you will have to shell out some actual money for this, but last I checked it was in the bargain bin for $10 at Target or somewhere. I actually got this for Christmas - twice - but so far have not conned anyone into playing it with me. The problem is, they actually try to make it a complex strategy game - so the rules sound cool but are way too complicated for anyone except a hardcore gamer. If you've actually played it, let me know.
The "No Friends" Alternative. Lost has been widely praised for being able to rope unsuspecting average people into caring about what basically amounts to an awesome geeky sci-fi thriller. But for the Comic-Con-attending geeks who would rather sit in their room alone than throw a viewing party, you could always have fun by yourself: watch the "Missing Pieces" mobisodes for free online, read Bad Twin or those crappy Lost novelizations, or - your best bet - browse through DailyLost.com. I hear it's a pretty awesome blog.

Embarrassingly, I fall into your final category. Average person, roped in, watch alone...check, check, check. Thanks for the laugh.
