Getting LOST in my Dreams

I didn't get to watch LOST last night so I caught up tonight watching it online. I've also done a little looking around the interwebs and emails and I've been tipped off to something quite interesting -- and it's about dreams.

I'll be straight up honest right here: I have no idea anymore what's going on with LOST.

Now let's move in a little more.

You may remember there has been a few references to The Wizard of Oz in LOST. Ben took the identity of a balloonist named Henry Gale (Henry was Dorthy's uncle and of course the wizard used a balloon to travel). Sawyer referred to Mr. Friendly by the name "Zeke" which is also the name of one of the farm hands at Dorthy's farm. But the entire story was just a dream.

Last night we met a new character: Charlotte Staples Lewis. It's already been pointed out here that her initials are C. Staples Lewis (aka CS Lewis), a popular writer from the mid-to-early 1900's. But if you're like me, you're still missing the connection.

A friend of mine sent me an email saying that he just finished reading CS Lewis' The Great Divorce. Though I'm a fan of Lewis, I've not read this one. So I did a little wikipediaing.

Similar to The Wizard of Oz, The Great Divorce takes place as a dream. Interestingly, the story is also about death, purgatory, heaven, and hell. So we're introduced to a new character with the same name as an author who wrote a fictional story about death in an episode called "Confirmed Dead" that turned out to just be a dream.

So what's the big connection here? I have no idea. What I do know is that if this whole LOST thing ends up just being a dream, I'll be ticked!

What do you think? Am I just dreaming?
