Finale Day 2009! Videos, ideas, teases, etc....

Lost Original Characters

I was searching for a good banner image for this post, found the one of the original cast, got reminiscent, so I wrote in all of their (current) fates. Makes you think back to the innocent old days of Season 1, doesn't it?

Anyway, according to Michael Emerson (Ben), the finale will have not one but two cataclysmic events that will make your brain explode (and make you wonder how the show can keep going, even more so than the disappearing-island trick).

We'll also be seeing a LOT of characters that the show seemed to have forgotten about. Some in different incarnations than others.

Plus, Jorge Garcia has mentioned a couple of times that we'll be filled-in on why Hurley's been carrying the guitar case around. Might it be more than simply a long-running ode to Charlie? Because I'm okay with it just being a long-running ode to Charlie.

Random theories/thoughts that have been stewing in my head for a few days:

-There have been been theories floating around literally for years now about how Locke is actually Jacob. Might that persuade Locke not to kill him after all?

-I theorized earlier that Jacob is an evil (or good) spirit that the good (or evil) Others have kept locked away in the cabin on purpose (but kept appeasing him so he doesn't sic his ghost minions on them). The core to that is really that Jacob is trapped in the cabin -- which you can then extrapolate in a bunch of interesting ways.

-For example, if Locke turns out to be Jacob, might Locke be leading himself into an eternal cabin-bound trap? Heck, even if he's not Jacob, might he accidentally release Jacob and take his place? Might his destiny to be simply to replace Jacob and remain trapped in the cabin for all eternity? That would be really dark, really twisted, and really cool.

-Will Richard make a move tonight? Will we find out he was an original passenger (or captain, or slave) of the Black Rock? Or was he on the island long before that, in the ancient past with the Four-Toed Statue?

-Kate hasn't been able to do much as far as her search for Claire goes. Will that be advanced tonight, or will Kate be left in a position that will allow her to advance it next season? (We've been promised since Claire's disappearance that Emilie de Ravin is not done with Lost.)

-I'm terrified that someone I really like is going to die. I really like pretty much every character, so that just makes it harder.

-The "shadow of the statue" folks have been planted in Season 5 because they're being set up as major players in Season 6. I just wish I had any idea how or why.

Enough with talk, onto the fun stuff...

Jorge Garcia was on Jimmy Fallon the other night. I couldn't find the "serious" part of the interview, but NBC.com had the following bit up:

Garcia was really making the talk-show rounds; he also showed up on The View today, along with Emerson. (Might this mean the finale's a particularly big episode for Hurley? Or was Garcia just one of the ones to volunteer to fly to L.A.?)

See The View video below. Michael Emerson's wife is also in the audience; apparently she's an actress who has a recurring role on True Blood. Nice catch, Ben.

And finally, EW.com went typically crazy (but not overboard, because that's impossible) with their finale coverage and are now hosting a four-part interview with Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse. Obviously, watch the whole thing, but here are the two "cyptic teases" they provide at the end:

Cuse: "We're going to see something very tall in this episode."

Lindelof: "This episode will be very touching."
