EW's recap and the Ben precognitive theory

With new Lost means new recaps/ruminations from Jeff Jensen over at EW.com, and if you're wondering why we link to him so much, it's because he's the only person I know of who actually makes a living off being a Lost expert. In other words, he's a genius.

Anyway, the crux of his insight into "The Shape of Things to Come" can be found in this little nugget:

My interpretation of ''He changed the rules'' wasn't so much Widmore and I agreed to wage our battle according to a certain set of limitations and regulations, but rather, simply This was not supposed to happen. As I've long insisted, I believe Ben's genius is derived from having knowledge of future events, via time travel, Desmond-esque precognitive flashes, or the other hot conjecture of the moment, time-loop theory, the idea that Ben has lived this life many times before. So a monkey wrench like this pretty much wrecks Ben's entire game.

That's an interesting theory, but like most theories, the maddening thing about it is its complete lack of specifics. Has Ben lived everything before, or is he simply aware of what happens in the future? I would surmise the latter, although I don't know how. It might explain why Ben said "we both know I can't do that" after Widmore asked if Ben was there to kill him, although if that's what he meant, it would've been much juicier to say "we both know I don't do that."

Oh, by the way, that "Dharka" spoiler Jensen teased us with two weeks ago? That was actually his cute little way of referencing the "Dharma Parka" Ben was wearing when he woke up in the Sahara. What a funny guy.
