Emmy voting

Wonder how Emmy voters decide who they vote for? Well, no, it's pretty obvious -- they vote for the shows they've seen or the actors they like, and ignore the rest. But they're technically supposed to watch every nominated show, and in order to do that they receive screeners of six episodes of each nominated show.

GoldDerby has a comprehensive list of every episode of every nominated show that was submitted to voters, and here's Lost's list:

"The Beginning of the End" (Season premiere, Hurley-centric)
"The Constant" (Desmond-centric)
"Ji Yeon" (Sun & Jin-centric)
"There's No Place Like Home, Parts 1, 2, 3" (Season finale)

I'm really curious why they chose "Ji Yeon" to show to the voters, and not just because it's my least-favorite episode of the season. It makes sense to send out your finale and premiere (even though I didn't like "Beginning of the End" too much either), and "The Constant" was the standout of the season, but "Ji Yeon" just seems really random.

It could be because they thought it was more of a "stand-alone" episode than normal -- something that would hopefully make sense to non-fans -- but it really wasn't; you have to know about Sun's affair and you have to understand the whole flashback/flashforward conceit for it to be comprehensible. The accessibility factor is likely why they didn't chose "The Shape of Things to Come," but it's an epic episode and, to me, stands next to "The Constant" in quality. I guess it's just a matter of taste.
