I hope you're all caught up and ready for next week, because it looks like the final batch of episodes are going to be intense. Both Zap2It and E!Online are sharing secrets and spoilers from a conference call yesterday.
Some highlights:
* The end of the "flash"? Yes, it's going to get more confusing. I like that they use the term "mosaic." It suggests much method in the madness.
"There might come a time in the show where the word 'flash' becomes irrelevant," Lindelof says. "If you stop and think about what we've done this year, there's the story on the island which we perceive to be the present, then there's the story of the Oceanic 6, which is happening off the island in the future."But if you were to switch perspectives and were off the island, focusing on the Oceanic 6 trying to get back, that would be the present, and what happened back on the island would be either a parallel present, a possible future a possible past, who knows. When you hear the 'whoosh' noise, the question becomes, Where does it take you?"
* There will be a further exploration of our favorite love triangle.
Regarding Jaters and Skaters, Damon says: “All we can say is that Sawyer is not one of the Oceanic 6 and Jack and Kate are. And obviously, there will be a huge focus in these final three hours of the show that comprise the finale in terms of how that series of events transpires, and ultimately what happens to Sawyer, and it’s all on the axis of the love triangle. So we think that both fans of Sawyer and Kate, otherwise known as the Skaters from what I’m told, and Jack and Kate, the Jaters, will have a bounty of interesting romantic scenes.”
Other highlights:
* The writers love Desmond and Penny too. Which means they'll probably survive.
* Something big is in store for Claire.
* Charles Widmore will become more important.
And in the first episode back:
* We see Smokey and Jacob!!!
* We learn the fates of Danielle and Karl. I'm assuming at least one of them is dead. His name is Karl.
The writers regret not being able to explore the stories of the Freighter Four as they had originally hoped, but promise more next season. Assuming they all survive this season, of course. As long as Faraday stays around, I'm happy.
Read more here and here. See you Thursday, Losties!
