I keep mentioning that Lost masterminds Damon and Carlton will break their "radio silence" at San Diego's Comic-Con two weeks from now. Turns out the duo is actually showing up in at least two panels, so hopefully that means we'll get double the scoops. The official schedule & details for the convention were just posted on its website, so let's see what we can look forward to:
Friday 1:45-2:45
Entertainment Weekly’s The Visionaries: Showrunners
Carlton Cuse (Lost), Damon Lindelof (Lost), Josh Schwartz (Chuck, Gossip Girl), Bryan Fuller (Pushing Daisies), and Josh Friedman (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) are the television producers who are changing the face of television with deeply immersive entertainments marked by distinctive, cutting edge storytelling. They have also been at the forefront of bringing "genre programming" or "cult TV" to the mainstream. Prepare for a candid conversation about creative integrity in a commercial medium and the future of broadcast TV in an increasingly digital world. Spoiler Alert! Upcoming plot developments may be teased. Moderated by Entertainment Weekly senior writer Jeff Jensen.
Since this one's moderated by Jensen -- a.k.a. the guy who writes those five-page Lost recaps on every episode on EW.com -- it should be interesting. Then, on Saturday...
Saturday 12:00-1:00
Lost
If the most recent season finale was any indication of things to come, you will not want to miss this panel. Co-creator/executive producer Damon Lindelof and executive producer Carlton Cuse will discuss season 4 of Lost, leading up to the season finale. They will answer your questions and maybe even offer up some surprises of their own.
I was lucky enough to actually be at Comic-Con and the Lost panel last year -- although that's unfortunately unlikely to happen this year -- and they were extremely candid: they begged the audience to ask them uncomfortable questions (e.g. "Why did Nikki and Paolo suck so bad?"), and revealed Michael would be coming back (which I somehow doubt they'll do again this year).
By the way, for the lucky few who will be there, they're also showing the entire pilot of Fringe on the preview night, Wednesday the 23rd. Word is that the beginning and end are awesome but the middle drags an awful lot. I guess we'll see...
