Charlotte's past and future

Charlotte.jpgOne of the least-discussed parts of the finale was that little "we're setting up Charlotte for a Season 5 storyline" bit of foreshadowing. First Miles hints that Charlotte has already been to the island, and then Charlotte tells Faraday she wants to stay on the island because she's trying to figure out where she was born.

But then there's all that info that Ben dumped on Locke to stop Locke from shooting him in "Confirmed Dead." From Lostpedia:

According to information provided by Ben, Charlotte Lewis was born on July 2, 1979 in Essex, England to parents David and Jeannette and was raised in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, England along with two younger sisters.

So let's say that's the "official story" of Charlotte's past. But let's also say that Charlotte was actually adopted by those parents and fed that story until she was a teenager or adult, when her real birth mother appeared to her and told her she was actually born on an island, as part of a group called the Dharma Initiative. And perhaps that bit of knowledge fuels Charlotte's decision to become an anthropologist and eventually leads her to Tunisia, where she finds a polar bear with a Dharma collar, and grins excitedly at the sight of it...

That's one possible story. Approaching Lost surmises that Charlotte could be Annie's daughter - Annie, the little girl from Ben's childhood. I like that theory because it brings Annie, a loose end, back into the picture, but would that mean Charlotte could be Ben's daughter?

To be honest, I've always suspected that Ben's a virgin. (Man, you could write a great psychological theory about that.)

Oh, and if anybody has any ideas about Charlotte sharing C.S. Lewis's name, by all means.
