Caesar has been cast!

Last month, it was revealed that two major new characters, Caesar and Ilana, would be introduced in Season 5 -- first as recurring characters, with an option to become full-time cast members for Season 6.

Last week, Nadine revealed that Zuleikha Robinson (Rome) had been cast as Ilana.

Today, EW.com revealed -- because those jerks get all the Lost exclusives -- that Saïd Taghmaoui has been cast as Caesar.

Chances are good you've seen Taghmaoui (who's first name, incidentally, is pronounced just like Sayid). He's in theaters right now in Traitor, playing Don Cheadle's best terrorist friend. Last spring, he was the mastermind of the terrorist plot in Vantage Point.

Despite the occasional typecasting (Taghmaoui's actually French, born to Moroccan immigrants), he has plenty of non-terrorist roles on his resume. He'll portray Breaker -- one of the good guys -- in next summer's G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra. He's appeared in I Heart Huckabees, Three Kings, and The West Wing. And coincidentally -- or perhaps not so coincidentally -- he has acted with Robinson before, in 2004's Hidalgo.

The EW story also gets new info on Caesar and Ilana straight from Damon Lindelof's mouth:

"[Taghmaoui] has an innate intelligence, intensity, and danger we really responded to,” says Lindelof, who declined to specify whether Caesar is good or bad. However, Cuse teases that the character will be playing “an important part of the setup for the final act of the show in season 6." He also confirms that Robinson’s Ilana is associated with Caesar, and likens her to Heath Ledger’s Joker in The Dark Knight. “There was something very unsettling about the way the Joker kept telling different stories about his background -- something very similar to what we had planned for Ilana,” he says.

Also revealed in the article: we will be seeing more of the Freighter Four, even Frank Lapidus, who escaped the island with the Oceanic Six last season.
