Before He Made Lost: Carlton Cuse

Today my posts are Cuse-related. Because the folks behind the scenes are the real heroes of the show.

You learn something new every day. And today I learned that Carlton Cuse created Nash Bridges. Seriously. And now it's coming out on DVD.

Before Cuse became well-known as the co-show runner (with Damon Lindelof) of Lost, he created other popuar TV series such as The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. with Bruce Cambell (already available on DVD), and the 1996 series Nash Bridges starring Don Johnson (Miami Vice) and Cheech Marin (Cheech & Chong films). Now Paramount has announced that CBS is releasing Nash Bridges - The 1st Season on DVD this October 14th!

Besides Don and Cheech, you've got cast members which include Jodi Lyn O'Keefe (Prison Break), Jaime Gomez (Crimson Tide) and Jeff Perry (Grey's Anatomy), plus first season recurring stars and guest stars such as Annette O'Toole, Serena Scott Thomas, Daniel Roebuck, Lucy Liu, James Hong, Melora Walters, Aisha Tyler, RuPaul, Cynthia Nixon, William Atherton and Valerie Perrine. And that's just in 8 hour-long installments, for the very short first season that began as a mid-season replacement. The show ran for a total of six seasons.

And for those of you who, like myself, managed to miss the show when it was on the air, here's a quick description to fill you in:

Nash Bridges (Don Johnson) is a high-action drama about a San Francisco police investigator who deserves his reputation as a topnotch cop, but who's not always so successful when it comes to his personal life. As a member of the elite Special Investigations Unit, Nash relies on his streetwise instincts, keen sense of humor and charm to work his magic on the streets of San Francisco.

So if you're tired of waiting for Lost (and have already re-watched the previous seasons), maybe you should dedicate your evenings to the careers of our favorite writers and producers. Nash Bridges and Felicity parties are an order.
