The first episode back, titled "The Shape of Things to Come," will be all about Ben and his globe-trotting flash-forward adventures. It will also revisit the subplot with Sayid and Nadia (could my theory come true so soon?)
The following episode will be a Jack flash-forward.
A corpse will wash up on Jack's beach.
There will be a huge battle at Locke's camp.
Claire will get a major storyline. Says Carlton Cuse: "Mysterious things are happening to Claire that set up the next few episodes — and the next few years, too."
The final three episodes will contain only one flashback.
We'll see a new Dharma station, The Orchid, which has three levels and will shed some light on the time-travel elements of the island.
Not a spoiler, but funny: when asked where Season 3 went wrong, Naveen Andrews (Sayid) says, "Well, I wasn't in it much, so that's flaw number one, without sounding ridiculously arrogant."
We'll find out more about the Smoke Monster's nature. Apparently the new rule is, whenever we see it, we'll learn something new about it.
Because of tricky post-strike scheduling, Faraday and Miles won't be involved as much (but will return in full force next year). However, Penelope, Richard Alpert, and Matthew Abaddon will be back.
By the end of the season we'll basically know every question raised since the end of Season 3: how the Six get off the island, what happens to the people left behind, why Sayid is working for Ben in the future, and (as previously promised) who's in the coffin.
And finally, a number of hints about the season finale:
The "spectacular kiss" previously written about will apparently be part of the Jack-Kate-Sawyer triangle.
We'll find out more about Jack's future ambition to return to the island, and why that might be really hard to accomplish.
It will have a game-changing twist to rival Season 3's; right now the writers' code name for it is "Frozen Donkey Wheel."
Lindelof hints that the finale might render future flashbacks and flashforwards unnecessary or impossible.
The whole article's a good read, and it includes a video with some cast interviews, so check it out.
