A Roundup of What to Expect in Season 6

io9 has compiled a bunch of Lost chatter over the past couple weeks into some pretty substantial Season 6 news. Between information from Entertainment Weekly, E! Online, and USA Today, here's what we got:

-From EW, "I hear Team Darlton will give us the answer to one of Lost’s oldest and most confounding mysteries. And I’m pretty sure it’s an answer none of us expected to get." Adam and Eve? If so, that means they're not Rose and Bernard, because that's conventional wisdom. How about: how did the Black Rock get so far on the mainland? Because we know we're getting some kind of Richard backstory...

-E! asked Damon Lindelof about the Numbers and he gives a really long, rambling answer that can be summarized as: we'll definitely be getting an explanation for the Numbers, but he has no idea whether people will accept it or not. But you could say that about most of Lost's mysteries, couldn't you?

I'm just glad they're addressing it: it's true that the origin of the Numbers were revealed in one of the alternate-reality games from a few seasons ago, but what's the percentage of Lost viewers who followed that? 0.5%? Less?

From USA Today, a bunch of news:

-As of October 27th, they were writing the eighth and ninth episodes and filming the sixth.

-What happens at the end of the series will be what they've always planned on the ending to be.

-Lindelof said that the show will provide answers about why and how Walt was special, and why and how the Others were studying him -- but heavily hinted that Walt won't actually appear, probably because he grew up so much faster than the show did.

-They want Cynthia Watros to come back and play Libby briefly, but they're not sure she'll do it. They asked her last year and she said no.

-Lindelof mentions that an actor "who's played a significant role on the show" but "was never a series regular" was asked to come back and said no. I'm pretty sure this has been previously confirmed as Mira Furlan -- the original Danielle Rousseau.

-Jeff Fahey, a.k.a. Frank Lapidus, will be promoted to series regular this year. Hooray!
